Presenting: the Case Cube. This mod is not terribly complicated, however accuracy in gluing is key. To make this mod, you will start off by filling a Rubik's cube ENTIRELY, then cutting it up as if you were making an Octagon Barrel. Save the "extra" triangle pieces. There should be 8 intact edges. Cut these as if you were going to use them for an Octagon Barrel (in half along a diagonal). Then take a second cube and only fill and cut 2 opposing corner-edge-corner arrangements. After this, take a corner piece and glue two of the "extra" triangle pieces to it as shown below. Repeat 3 times, leaving you with 4 of these arrangements. Then take 2 edge pieces (uncut) and arrange the pieces in the same way..
Take the remaining uncut edge pieces and the remaining triangle pieces and glue them together as seen in the picture. When the pieces are all oriented the same way, you should have 4 pieces where the extension slants to the left and four where it slants to the right. See the picture below for the edge pieces that you should have for the top or bottom face.
You will be left with 6 pieces that are simply cut in half: 4 corners and 2 edges. The pictures below should give you an idea as to how to assemble the final puzzle.
