The puzzle that you see above is Gentosha's Floppy cube. It is a 3x3x1 non-shape-shifting cuboid designed by Katsuhiko Okamoto. It is not only available through Gentosha but through Meffert's as well. Upon opening it, I noticed that it came with a solutions booklet. I quickly found this unneccessary as the puzzle is rediculously easy. It is more of a stress-breaker than anything. Turning is stiff due to certain mechanism issues. Another thing is that the center caps flex slightly to allow for the mechanism to function.
This is the partial cause of the stiffness. I'm not sure if it affects the durability. Overall, this puzzle is a good way to kick off Gentosha's new line of cuboids, and a nice puzzle thati s good for pattern-making.
